A highlight of our “stay at home” holiday so far is picking and eating our own strawberries from a nearby strawberry farm. The farm is open to the public after the professional pickers got their share [for export], you pick, they weigh, you pay [and you try to contain your excitement and surprise at the ridiculously low exchange of dollars for this harvest of heaven ]. I was planning on making a jam or some cake thing with them, but then we tasted them – they simply must be eaten fresh , nothing added. Yes, they are that good ! We will definitely do our picking every year and plan our holiday around the picking times. So sorry there is no strawberry jam recipe here, but if you could taste them you’d understand.
